One bag, three ways to wear it

Hand, shoulder and crossbody: how the adjustable strap changes what the same bag is for.

The strap is the feature

Most of what people call a bag wardrobe is really one adjustable strap used three ways. Shorten it and the bag sits at the elbow for the polished look. Middle setting puts it on the shoulder for the commute. Full length takes it across the body and gives you both hands back.

In the hand: the short setting

Cinched short, the slouchy folds into a soft clutch shape that reads dressed up without being fragile. This is the dinner setting: the bag holds less well at this length because it hangs closed, so pre-sort down to the crescent load before you leave.

On the shoulder: the everyday setting

The middle length is where the slouchy earned its reviews. The bag tucks under the arm, the zipper faces you, and the wide part of the strap sits flat even over a winter coat. If the strap slides off a slick jacket, drop it one hole longer so the bag hangs at hip height and self-balances.

Crossbody: the both-hands setting

Full length across the body is the travel setting: the bag rides in front where you can see it, and stairs, bikes and toddlers stop being a juggling act. The crescent lives its best life here, it was drawn for that diagonal line.

Match the setting to the color

Worn crossbody the bag sits against your outfit like a stripe, so bolder shades earn their keep there. On the shoulder it mostly shows in profile, which is where the browns and blacks quietly do their work.
